Kim Delaney is an American actor who is most well-known as the character the role of Detective Diane Russell in ABCs series NYPD Blue for which she garnered an Emmy Award. She is also known for her performances in the drama series All My Children Philly CSI: Miami and Army Wives. Delaney was the sole daughter of a United Auto Workers senior executive and a domestic worker, was raised by four siblings. In her early years, she dreamt of being a reporter for the court. After graduating from high school and moving in New York in the 1980s, she began modeling. In her teens her first appearance as an actor was on the soap opera of 1980 All My Children. Delaney was a talented young actress from the 1980s has appeared in numerous TV shows and dramas. Delaney has not lived a successful or happy personal life. The talented actress struggled to overcome addiction to alcohol, and was married twice only to that failed. In 2005, the actress lost the custody of her son.
